Ministry
It is our privilege to participate in the restoration of human harmony through our medical,
catechetical and social apostolates. In our catechetichal apostolate, we speak the Word to
one another and to others around us. We train women and men in catechesis to evangelize and
to teach others this work, in our medical apostolate, we treat the sick in body and spirit,
as well as the social illness of our day, injustice, poverty, hunger and ignorance. In our
social apostolate, we strive to identify ourselves with the aspiration of suffering people,
actively promoting and participating in their liberation from misery.
The Sons of Mary, religious missionary Brothers in solidarity with the poorest of God's poor
was founded in the Archdiocese of Boston in 1952 by Fr. Edward Garesché, a priest who devoted
his whole life to the medical missionary work of the Church. We have completed missionary
programs in the jungles of Venezuela and in the inner-city slums of Lima, Perú and are now
in the Philippines.
